BANGUS SA MAIS (MILKFISH IN CORN)

BANGUS SA MAIS (MILKFISH IN CORN)

This Bangus sa Mais or Milkfish in Corn is one of the many Filipino dish you can easily make. Another recipe taught to me by my mom. Made with milkfish, fresh corn cut off from the cob and pepper leaves. Best eaten with hot steamed rice. A healthy and delicious dish you can serve your family.

Ingredients:

  • 1 large bangus (milkfish), cleaned, rinsed and sliced  into 4 or 5 servings
  • 3-4 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 2 white or yellow corn, scraped off the cob
  • 3 1/2 cups water
  • 2 cups pepper leaves
  • salt or fish sauce to taste

Procedure:
  • In large pot or wok, heat cooking oil.
  • Saute garlic. Cook until fragrant.
  • Add onion and cook until soft.
  • Add the corn and cook for about 3 minutes or until slightly tender.
  • Add water. Bring to a boil.
  • Add the milkfish and cook until the fish is cooked through.
  • Add fish sauce and pepper leaves.  (I added about 1 1/2 tbsp fish sauce). Simmer for few minutes.
  • Serve and enjoy.
