Hot Honey Recipe
Prep time: 2 minutes
Cook time: 5 minutes
Total time: 7 minutes
Yield: 1/2 cup
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup Honey (Wildflower or Clover)
- 1 tbsp Dried Red Pepper Flakes (use 1.5 tbsp for extra heat)
- 1 tsp Hot Sauce (e.g., Frank's RedHot or Cholula)
- 1 tsp Apple Cider Vinegar
- 1 pinch Fine Sea Salt (optional)
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Combine Base: In a small saucepan, stir together the honey, red pepper flakes, hot sauce, and salt.
- Warm Gently: Place the pan over low heat. Warm for 3–5 minutes until the honey is thin, fluid, and barely begins to bubble at the edges. Do not bring to a full boil, or the honey will harden as it cools.
- Add Acid: Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the apple cider vinegar.
Finish & Store:
- For smooth honey: Pour through a fine-mesh sieve into a clean glass jar to remove the flakes.
- For full heat: Pour directly into the jar, leaving the flakes to steep.
- Cool: Allow to cool completely before sealing. Store at room temperature for up to 3 months.
